Are you a software developer and who is excited about the OpenRide idea? Participate in the further development of the world's first open source software for dynamic shared rides!

OpenRide is freely available as open source software under the Affero Gnu Public License (AGPL v3) on Sourceforge. After two years of designing, developing and testing, the software is now available in a stable first version.

Test it yourself at www.open-ride.mobi (so far German version only)! We recommend mobile phones with a newer web browser, e.g. the iPhone 3G, Android mobile phones starting at Android 2.1. and Windows Mobile starting at version 6.5. You can use OpenRide on Nokia Smartphones with the "opera mobile" web browser.

And this is how you can contribute to and influence how OpenRide will further develop in the future:

• Use the OpenRide software, in either a non-commercial or commercial model. Operate your own shared ride community. Expand your shared ride portal with OpenRide functionalities. Write to us and we will link your project.

• Write code yourself, fix bugs and expand OpenRide with your own mobility ideas: integrate OpenRide into social networks or combine OpenRide with other mobility services, such as taxis or public transportation.

• Share your ideas with us: Send us bug reports and suggestions for improvement!

• Help us to translate the content of this website, the OpenRide software or the documentation into further languages and to adjust them to country specific conditions.

• And finally: Popularise OpenRide! Write and talk about OpenRide on blogs, forums and other media. Organise bar camp sessions or code fests. Write us, so that we can link your contributions to the OpenRide website.

As an open source project, we look forward to your knowledge and skills! Open source projects live off the commitment of the developer community. The effort for the development is thus shared and everyone profits from the work of the others. As a young and small open source project, we offer the opportunity to you to take over responsibilities within the project.
